Iran’s Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has warned against Israel’s scenario for the Judaization of al-Quds (Jerusalem) as a threat against the common heritage of humanity and called for global action against the move.
In a Monday message to the International Conference on Palestine as the Axis of Unity of the Muslim World which is held in Tehran, Salehi warned against Israel’s expansionist policies and the regime’s crimes against the Palestinian nation.
“We, as the Islamic Republic of Iran, not only view the Judaization of al-Quds and the demolition of al-Aqsa mosque as a threat to the interests of the Palestinians and the Muslim world, but also consider it a threat to the common heritage of humanity as this land (Palestine) and its symbols of religion and civilization belong to human culture and civilization,” Salehi said.
“We call on all governments, nations as well as freedom and justice-seeking figures in the world to act against the expansionist measures and intentions of the Zionist regime [of Israel] across the occupied territories, particularly in al-Quds (Jerusalem),” the statement added.
The statement also called on all Palestinians to understand the current sensitive circumstances and unite against their main enemy.
Iran believes that the establishment of lasting peace and stability in the Middle East region cannot be achieved unless the rights of the regional nations, most importantly the the rights of the Palestinian nation, are completely fulfilled, Salehi pointed out.
The Palestine conference comes ahead of the International Quds Day on Friday.
In August 1979, the late founder of the Islamic Republic Grand Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini DE CLAREd the last Friday of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan as International Quds Day, and called on Muslims across the world to mark the annual occasion by holding street rallies.
