Epsom salt enemas
I've been reading about
Epsom Salt (magnesium sulfate) enemas potential to cause hypermagnesemia. Several cases of epson salt enema magnesium toxicity are recorded in the literature, indicating that this route can be a very powerful method of increasing magnesium levels.
In light of the fact that other routes of magnesium intake can be inefficient and costly, it seems like provided the amount is carefully measured, this could be an effective and inexpensive route of quickly increasing magnesium levels.
Many experts including Dr. Carolyn Dean are advocating larger doses of magnesium supplementation up to and over 1000mg to offset environmental toxicity factors. The upper limit sometimes cited is 2500mg/day!
Since
Epsom Salts contain 495 mg of elemental magnesium per teaspoon, I believe one to two teaspoons are a safe and effective measure for adults. All of the complications recorded were with higher amounts and usually in young children.
I found that adding the
Epsom Salts to
coffee enemas makes for a super coffee enema, and coffee being a magnesium rich substance includes the cofactors to assist the body in utilizing the magnesium.
The sulfates in
Epsom Salts are also very beneficial and difficult to obtain through diet.
It seems to trump mag oil.
Anyone else using this?
