Firefox and videos

Any idea how to fix the problem with videos (like YouTube) not playing smoothly from within Firefox? I'm in IT and am ashamed to admit that I haven't found a fix yet. The videos play fine in Internet Explorer. I've Googled the heck out of it and nothing works so far.
