Medical mystery - Why does probiotics cure my itchy acne / eczema?
Here's a medical mystery for you, over the last year I've developed a strange itchy
Acne like condition, somewhat similar to eczema, concentrated around my face, especially cheeks and scalp. Strangely it also made my skin overall feel oily and itchy - a very unpleasant experience.
I could tell that it was exacerbated by certain foods, definitely dairy, so that was largely cut but it persisted nevertheless.
The solution finally was probiotics, Genestra brands HMF Forte 10 billion CFU Lactobacillus Acidophilus. Taken twice a day. I have now been on this for 6 months and it has been keeping the itchy
Acne at bay.
I say at bay because as soon as I'm off the probiotics, even for a few days it returns with a vengeance.
So my question to you community is what is it about the probiotics that seems to supply my body with something it is clearly lacking but does not address the direct cause?
I've suspected Candida but after 6 months of probiotics and even a few weeks with oil of Oregano I would have thought to have wiped it out by now.
What is the probiotic doing to balance my skin? And what else could I be doing to get to the heart of the issue so that I am not dependent on them?
Any insight would be most appreciated.
