Re: wormwood reaction..? help!
I've been a medical herbalist for many years and while I do like
Wormwood for parasites, I NEVER recommend taking
Wormwood on its own, especially in several doses throughout the day. It potentially has psychoactive properties and has an unpredictable activity in some. It is best used in very small amounts along with a formula containing the antifungals you have described already.
The psychoactivity of
Wormwood is caused by a chemical called "thujone". Thujone concentrations can vary significantly between wormwood species, strains, and individual plants, and some wormwood formulations may contain tens or hundreds of times more thujone than others.
I've heard of reports of smoking or drinking strong wormwood tea (infusions or decoctions) can make a person sometimes experience a vivid or dreamlike quality to perception ranging right up to experiencing a full blown anxiety or panic attack in those who are susceptible.
This herb is commonly smoked like dope by many young guys, and in fact just like the plant Datura stramonium (see this link:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Datura_stramonium),
wormwood been known to occasionally put an unsuspecting young man in hospital with convulsions, seizures and quite severe psychedelic experiences which have even been linked to precipitating psychotic episodes in susceptible individuals. Wormwood and absinthe are similar, although absinthe contains much more thujone.
My advice? Only take wormwood for parasites, and then as part of a formula. Never on its own, especially in repeated doses throughout the day.
