Has anyone family or any blood relative been tested for the key folic/folate gene mutations supposedly so common in the human population?
If even 1 has the most mutated genes (homozygous), then good chance many others have at least 1 gene badly mutated.
That test runs several hundred dollars, but the results reveal genetics that are fixed for life, unlike a blood test.

The symptoms u gave are too general, altho that "raised area" you mentioned could be, if it's the small 'chicken skin' bump pattern on patches on the back of the upper arms,that's a key symptom of fatty acid dysmetabolism found in pyroluria.
