I had my Mirena removed 4 April. I had a rash appear 3 weeks later on 22 April and have had it since. I was initially diagnosed as having Pityriasis Rosea but more recently as chronic urticaria. Some days it is bearable and some days it is totally unbearable. I have blotches that join up and cause an entire area to be inflamed and incredibly itchy. The blotches fade away after 24-48 hours but a new patch appears so I always have something going on. The worst is when it is on my face. It has ruined my social life and interferred with my job. I have tried all sorts of things from zinc, vitamin C, milk thistle and Barley grass with the usual prescribed antihistamines and hydrocortisone lotions to sunbeds (which I hate to admit to but seem to help immensely!) I don't seem to have a pattern with it as I am 51 yrs old and going through menopause (oh joy - another thing to have to deal with!). Both doctors I have seen do not believe the Mirena removal has anything to do with the rash but funny old thing - it's the only thing I have had different in my life since it started. I believe it is my body reacting to not having the progesterone and not liking it. I have always had allergies but as I have got older they have subsided to being almost non existant - until now. I have an appointment with a dermatologist on Tuesday and intend to push the Mirena removal as a cause.
