You can jump start your process in terms of conductivity by bringing your distilled water to a boil beforehand. This will raise the conductivity of your solution(distilled water) saving you much of the time waiting for things to build-up.

That is of course if your specific setup can accommodate such a thing as many generators aren't initially designed to deal with high temp solutions.
