Re: Day 17 - so weak
Hey Kate,
I have learned a lot about how the body works, not just physically but energetically by learning about ayurveda. I have realized that there are two main factors that need to be taken into account regarding fasting. The main benefit of fasting is that it allows your body to expel large amounts of stored toxins that the body otherwise has no way of getting rid of. The other factor is the overall energetic balance of the body, this is the one that most people tend to ignore on this forum and this is what causes most problems people have while fasting. All cases of hospitalization, death, and other negative experiences with fasting are due to people ignoring serious symptoms of energetic imbalances in the body. Without explaining all the details of how the energetic body works, there are basically three underlying energies of the body, the energy of movement, the energy of transformation, and the energy of stabilization. Depending on the person, fasting for longer periods of time may throw these energies out of balance or fasting can bring the energies more into balance. Through my own experience, and understanding of how the energetic body works, it is very easy for me to identify what is happening in the energetic body of a person depending on what symptoms they describe. The correct way to fast is to allow the body to eliminate the maximum amount of toxins, while bringing the body into balance at the same time. We can allow the body to come slightly out of balance in order to expel toxins, but if we allow the body to get too far out of balance, we are just setting up the body to be in a state of disease and accumulate more toxins in the future.
