Having an allergic reaction to things is one of the ways I realized I still wasn't taking enough iodine; having said that, one shouldn't have to be FORCED to take more iodine just to live in one's own home.
If the girlfriend doesn't listen to reason, at least try to nicely explain you are allergic and don't want to be forced to take even more of something you have to purchase just to overcome the offending toxin in your own home.
