Its actually pretty common with AF (I don't know what 'pretty common' is but I have read about it in quite a few places).
A number of causes: One is a coping mechanism/stress issue, compulsive behavior is pretty common with AF. I have a number of compulsive issues, at times this has been one of them.
Another cause is that if your adrenals are low, some people get addicted to stimulating them because it forces your adrenals to output hormones temporarily making you feel better. This can be compulsive exercise, addiction to stimulants (coffee/sugar) or addiction to sex because it forces an output of hormones which brings you closer to balance.
What to do now? I think Dr. Wilson's once-a-month seems kind of random and silly. But I would try to cut back to allow your adrenals and body to rest. 2x a week? Honestly I am probably at 3x a week (sorry if this is TMA for anyone), but I try to not do so at night because the excess stimulation can keep me awake. Hope this helps.
