Re: Cancer Screening
I agree screening is essential but when some of the approved methods of screening can cause problems on their own we must look carefully at how we screen for cancer.
Mammograms find less than we think and causes cancer after repeated use. So you tell women to go frequently and then you give them the very cancer you were screening for, makes no sense; especially when there are safer more effective types of screening for breast cancer. Sonograms are safe and more effective, but most insurance will not cover it. Why? The money is not there, clinics etc make more on mammograms. Not fair for us.
Just had a client come to Jesicha's Hope with a complaint of a sore and somewhat painful breast; doctor told her she was just a silly girl and the mammogram said nothing was wrong. I said why then are you in pain, we will get a second opinion, her doctor was livid. Well, a long mass of tissue was found, not well formed, some cancer is not; so it does not get detected, a sonogram does; biopsy scheduled.
Screening is good but you have to be careful. Know your body. Pick and choose the screening procedures, do your own research and be educated about it.
