Re: Of Iodine, Wommie's cream, and eating wheat-free

lol - ok - deep breath - hubby wants me to tell

ohhhhhhhhhhh, kaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy

1st visit was actually late June
the 1/2 inch circle on ball of foot is where the nail bore the hole - after a week of Antibiotics it infected further

2nd visit ended up with hospital stay - they did an in-room procedure - a drainage (is the word shunt?) at the far end. Then our daughter stepped on a humongous thorn and we had to take HER up to have IT taken care of - they x-rayed it and dug through it to make sure it was CLEAN before they stitched it.

We then realized they NEVER did this for hubby.

Guess what infected in the middle of the two previous infections? NOW he gets the x-ray (I raised holy he!!) NOW his wound gets all cleaned out...and all this time, hubby did NOT get drop one of Iodine on his foot.

Needless to say, if they did their job PROPERLY in the first place, and allowed stupid little wifey-poo to paint his foot with iodine, he only would have lost about three weeks of work instead of the whole summer.

BUT

BUT

BUT

I have to look at it this way:

almost losing his foot changed his eating habits, and THAT has created a much nicer (and MUCH healthier) hubby!

Oh man. After his surgery? After coming off of the anesthetic? They offered him a tray of snacks. He picked the pretzels, his Sugar shot up to 300, and then they gave him a shot of insulin.

Oh yeah, they also taught him how to shoot himself up with the stuff. He fasted for the first 48 hours upon coming home determined to get his Sugar down and then said, "I don't care. I need to eat - I'll do the damn shots."

"Oh no you won't. You're stuck in that chair now. Your @$$ is mine. You're going wheat-free. We ALL are - as a family!" (I had already started reading that book). I didn't have to be tough for long. His Sugar dropped to normal levels in less than two weeks' time and his demeanor was so improved he didn't need me to be tough on him at all.

lololol

(I'm VERY GRATEFUL this has happened. God knew what hubby had to experience to turn him around - and God's now back to working with me on MY thorns - I keep falling off of the healthy-eating habits myself - lol - at least I'm staying wheat free - lol)

PS:
Hubby wanted to make sure that I added that it's not all about iodine; eating a high-protein, low-carb diet and keeping the foot elevated (like the doctor said to do) was VERY important for the whole healing process.
