Exactly Vunk.

I think the inflammatory reaction came first, as a result of me biting. Then that started the Hyperkeratosis. And then the repeated trauma from peeling continued to fuel the inflammation which in turned continued to fuel the Hyperkeratosis.

So getting rid of the trauma helps decrease the inflammation enough to slow down/stop the Hyperkeratosis but in my case, some inflammation still remains. Which I hear can take a bit of time to diminish.

And again for the record this is all my opinion and I cannot comment on others' conditions.
