Re: how strong is your odor?
Hi Hadenuff29, I totally agree with you and Affliction about being "anxed" out concerning every situation we find ourselves in when it comes to our TMAU, BB, BO. Before I got my very nauseating and offensive odors 99.9% under control, I knew I could fill up a room with my odors. It was that bad, so you know what it was doing to the people around me or in close proximity near me (I could'nt smell the odors, others could). During those sad chapters in my life, however, I've never experienced flies following me as I walk down the street. Bees will follow anyone with flowery colognes or perfumes on, that is a known fact. I've never experienced people smelling me through the walls of my house or apartment or through closed windows in my car as I sat in my car...although I definitely do not rule out that possibility. Think about this: Let's just say that those scenarios just mentioned are true. If, one's strong odor was coming through the walls of one's apartment or house; if someone could smell you while you are inside a car with the windows rolled up; or even if flies were following you down the street, how would anyone know the odors are coming from you unless they knew of your condition or were close up on you?...They (those who don't suffer from BO, BB, and TMAU) would probably assume that the pungent offensive odors were coming from other sources. Simply, put when you've suffered from this debilitating disorder you will at times think and feel that way, you will be paranoid and "anxed" out that your smells are so powerful that they can penetrate walls or areas like being enclosed in a car. Experimenting with a close friend(s) or family members will alay some of these fears and is a good thing. Humbly, implore them to be honest with you and let them know that something has been on your heart and mind. Explain to them that you need their assistance or participation in an experiment concerning your condition.
You need them or that person to: (1) Stand outside your car as you sit in it with the windows rolled up and see if they can smell you (Try it at different distances, measuring by footage).
(2) Go in the basement and see if they can smell you on the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd floor of your house or apartment.
(3)Have someone walk with you outside for the amount of time you specify, to see if flies are gonna follow you (very warm or hot days are good to do this experiment).
Sometimes the air and humidity may dissipate odors and you may not get a true "reading" of this experiment.....
In short, do whatever it takes, short of hurting yourself or worse. Do what you have to, to alleviate your fears and anxieties whether real or imagined when it comes to dealing with this terrible disorder and the situations we find ourselves in. I truly understand why some may feel that way, my heart is with them. Don't be discouraged because there ARE WAYS to greatly reduce this terrible disorder. I and others like me have been successful in doing so. Take care there is hope.
