Best (flouride-free) tooth brushing practices?

I've been taking very good care of my health overall - losing weight, recovering from heavy metal toxicity, and so on. But my teeth are not in particularly great shape.

Well, I did do one thing right - I strengthened them some time back when I did oil pulling (my teeth used to hurt when I tried to chomp down on ice cubes, but now they do it like a champ). But... my teeth are now in not good condition.

What are the best practices for brushing them, and what type of toothpaste is best? I'd heard about probiotic toothpastes, which are a recent invention - are they any good? They don't sell them locally, but I could order them online. What other things are important in a (flouride-free) toothpaste?
