Re: mucosal candida
I battled candida in my sinuses for over a year non-stop. I tried so many things, to the point of using harsh antifungals as a sinus rinse, which destroyed my sense of smell.
What ultimately wound up working for me was relatively simple: taking large doses of vitamin C along with apple cider vinegar. I came to the conclusion that from my sinuses, mouth and throat all the way down to my intestines was too alkaline, and that's why the candida was so impossible to beat down. So I figured that by getting those areas more acidic through healthy acids like C and ACV, I would make the areas inhospitable for candida to live, as candida needs an alkaline spot to live, and it turn makes the areas it lives even more alkaline (vicious cycle).
(NOTE: Despite common misconception on this board and elsewhere, your digestive tract [including sinuses] is NOT supposed to be alkaline. Healthy acid-producing bacteria are supposed to live there, hence they should be slightly acidic. The case may be different for the rest of the body, but your mouth, throat, sinuses, gut, etc., are supposed to be slightly acidic [i.e., home to acidophilus]).
I took almost 20g/vitamin C a day along with 3-5 tablespoons of ACV throughout the day. It took a week or two to work, but when it worked, it worked like magic. My sinuses cleared up almost completely in a few days' time. I just wish I would've tried that first before destroying my sense of smell with neti pot rinses, etc.
