Dr Mervyn Hardinge when at Harvard* did an isocaloric
study of nonvegetarians, dairy vegetarians and vegans.
He could not convince fruitarians to join the study but he
said they weighed the least. The study went forward, each
group receiving the same calories daily. At the end of
several months, the vegans weighed the least, 23 pounds less
than the nonvegetarians and 11 pounds less than the dairy
vegetarians.
*Harvard is heavily invested in the meat industry and
therefore the discoverer of Mad Cow prions, Stanley Prusiner, left.
