Re: Fasciola and a mildly amusing story

Yeah, southeast asia, that will do it to ya. Yeah, I am sorry to hear that doctors in canada are just about as worthless as in the u.s. Oh, that's disappointing. I have been trying to treat a fasciola infection. I finely did get triclabendazole and it works wonderfully well. It's just I didn't have enough on hand to do it right. I took 10mg/kg like advised and it stunned them within 5 minutes. I just couldn't clear the flukes at that point. After 5 days they came back to life. I think if I had another dose, it would have killed them permanently. So, the lesson is you just need to have enough on hand to do it right the first time. I was told to take 1 dose at 10mg/kg and then another 12 hours later. Also, I was told to space them out every 24 hours to 3 days. I don't know which is better or worse I just know you should take more than one for sure. If have tried treat these things while resistant to triclabendazole and it is tough to say the least. Hopeless at times. I gotta say your best bet is to hit them hard with the egaten and make sure your clear them out.
