Re: How can Leaky Gut be diagnosed? Is LG a real medical diagnosis?
Hi lulz,
LG is basically not accepted by conventional medicine. so dont bother convincing your doctor you have it.
there are 2 unconevtional tests which can tell if you have it:
- Gut permeability test (PG...)
- SIBO test, lactulose test....but this test dont tell what kind of bug do you have only that you have SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth)
After my experiences I dont find now important that doctors should believe me anymore. But just to find a cure for "all the symptoms" I have. they like more this enunciation than LGS. i believe LG is a true diagnostic but dont mind too much.
if is made up by alternative medicine? - i dont know - what i know is everything is matching for my case and I've had some benefits from the alternative cure but not from conventional medicine. btw in my country after many doctors opinion that it doesnt exist, one doctor at the top gastro hospital knew about it as "intestinal hyper permiability" but did not know how to solve it. another one was a top ortopedist!!! who frequently goes to conferences abroad - 70 year old !!!...accept it.
I think what is important is to find a cure rather that concerning about acceptance of term or not. this is what should interest you. treatment depends on the bugs which produce LG - could be bacteria, protozoa, yeast...and the damage they have done in different parts of the body: intestines, liver, brain...
good luck,
dave
