Tea tree oil burn? Or the witch hazel?

I have my 2nd bartholin cyst. I had the first one lanced and drained and refuse to go through this again. I read on this forum that witch hazel and tea tree oil have helped. So I went to the store bought the items and I see some improvement. However the cyst is somewhat deep at the opening of my vaginal wall. To say the least I may have irritated that skin with too much tea tree oil. Has this happened to anyone else? I felt some burning that started to become uncomfortable and noticed there was some discoloration of the skin. Should I dilute more with witch hazel?
