No. Tap water usually has enough minerals to be sufficient. You might be using too much water though. Causing the electricity to spread out across the skin. I have less irritation using silver electrodes. Maybe you're turning up the power a little too high. Switch arms every day for healing. With time it won't bother you as much.

I think that was someone using a 12 volt Hulda Clark type zapper. Used it for too long the first time.

You can have serious problems by using the Beck device for too long in the beginning. Or by using toxic herbs, vitamins, drugs etc.
