Actually black cumin has been proven to be successful for animals including horses. I would consider a dog like I would a child and give half the dosage in his food. The problem is many dogs are cats do not like the taste. You may have to use a syringe or as you say rub on his gums. Just make sure he does not spit out the valued oil.
