Mirena isn't the only IUD that sickens your body. The Paragard has the some of, if not exactly, the same side effects.
I got the Copper IUD after my fifth child in June 2010 and I have not been the same health wise. I just had it removed on Nov 19 2012. I feel like crap. The entire time that I had the IUD I had extremely heavy bleeding for 6 out of the 8 days that I would get my menstruation. On top of that I would get severe headaches that lasted from the time that I would start my menstruation until 5 days into having it. Even if I had any
Sugar outside of
Sugar naturally in foods, I would get a massive headache with nausea. Then I had severe hair loss, fatigue, bloating, constipation, dizziness, leg cramps at night and horrible acne. There were times that I couldn't physically get out of bed and my children were afraid for my health. I had unexplained weight gain even though my appetite had been suppressed while having the ParaGard. I know that they say that there are no hormones in the ParaGard (Copper IUD) but I beg to differ. I feel like my entire world is upside down. I am thankful that I had it removed last week and I am praying that these symptoms subside soon and I can get back to my normal active self. I can say that I just got my menstruation 2 days ago and I can tell that my menstruation is lighter, the bloating started but I have had to urinate every hour since I started my menstruation which has helped to relieve the bloating (my bodies way of getting rid of the excess water). I did get the usual headache yesterday but it isn't as severe a it actually feels as if my headache is starting to go away already. I don't smoke, drink or take any form of drugs (prescription or recreational) so I am praying that it will be easier for my body to get back to normal seeing don't have any outside interferences with my body's natural healing methods.
