Re: Some interesting questions about hurricane sandy

My neighborhood is around 80 miles inland from NYC. We had borderline hurricane force winds (I've been through a couple in NC). MANY trees were down all over that knocked down power-lines and maybe 2 inches of rain at most.

A couple days after the storm the area was filled with NYSEG and out of state electrical crew trucks and tree workers, we even had a crew from Quebec working on our road! They had the power back on Saturday night for most everyone in Putnam County NY. So I can tell you personally that the storm DID hit inland also.

BTW, the only house fire by me was a local woodchuck that decided to power up his breaker box with an arc welding generator. He lost his house. Don't try this at home kiddies.
