Re: Update: Endo Appointment not too bad
Batgirl,

My Gurus at STTM advise strongly against synthroid:
===================================================
It’s true. As reported by a large body of thyroid patients as found in patient groups, blog posts and to each other, Synthroid, Levoxyl, Levothyroxine, Unithroid, Eltroxin, Levaxin, Norton, Eutrosig, Oroxine and any other “T4-only” medications are NOT doing the job as a sole treatment, according to the worldwide experience of many patients for over 50 years… unless you think that an elevator that goes up to the 5th-floor-only on a 50 story building is “doing the job.
Yes, you might feel better than before you got on, and your symptoms may be “improved”. Some do report that. Why is this page specifically on natural desiccated thyroid? Because unlike T4-only meds (Synthroid, Levoxyl, generic levothyroxine, Eltroxin, Oroxine, Levothyroid, Levaxin or Euthyrox,etc)…desiccated thyroid gives you exactly what your own thyroid would be giving you: T4, T3, T2, T1 and calcitonin. Patients around the world have found it to be a far better treatment, removes lingering symptoms, improves your immune system, gives you your life back, stops the attack of Hashimotos disease if you dose it high enough, stops adrenal fatigue (which SO many patients end up with because of the inadequacy of T4-only-Synthroid) and is also far better for your immune system if you’ve ever had thyroid cancer.
What are the brands of desiccated natural thyroid? The brand name “Armour” is the most well known of the Natural Desiccated Porcine Thyroid meds and oldest on the market–since early in the 20th century. Naturethroid and Westhroid came into the picture in the late 1930′s–by RLC Labs. A new generic by Acella hit the picture by late 2010. Additionally, some patients are using a ... more here:
