I have MC in my pubic region but did not get it from sexua| contact.

I've recently been diagnosed as having Molluscum in my pubic area. I know that it is common in adults and considered an STD when you have it there. But, I have had the same partner for the last year and she doesn't have it. I have read so many different things on the subject and I don't know what to believe. My Dr. told me that it is common to get it without having to be passed sexually. But, every website says if you have it on your genitals it is an STD. Is this true? Because if so I must have been misdiagnosed.
