Re: Pregnancy and hypertension?
Congratulations on the incoming little love, first! The best natural help for high blood pressure whether pregnant or not as far as I'm concerned is coconut oil. And it tastes awesome! I cook with nothing but coconut oil (using
Extra-Virgin Olive-Oil in cold preparations) and take about a tablespoon straight. There are dosage recommendations according to weight, but I get alot in my food and personal care uses. I first found it in
Kevin Trudeau 's book "Natural Cures They Don't Want You to Know About," talking about high blood pressure, so I started using it for my mom's blood pressure last year and it has since taken over our kitchen as our go to oil. You should not cook with it at very high heat as it has a low smoke point like evoo, but who needs to deep fat fry anyway? The refined stuff has a higher smoke point but I use the unrefined organic virgin myself (Nutiva). Unrefined coconut oil retains the most nutritional value and is superior to the refined oil. Mom's blood pressure came down and she didn't need the OTC drugs her doc prescribed for it. Her doctor was even happy that we found something that so worked well for her! Contrary to popular myth it IS heart healthy and is not bad for you. Its a medium chain fatty acid AND naturally hydrogenated which makes it shelf stable. It also naturally has some aminos in it that are found also in mother's milk such as lauric acid, so pregnant or not, I see it as super food.
Check out the book "The Coconut Oil Miracle," by Bruce Fife. It will totally blow your mind to see all the things coconut oil can help.

I use it to soothe my sore nipples now while pregnant and it will be used for that after baby is breastfeeding too. Its naturally antibacterial, antimicrobial, and antifungal so it will be used on baby's butt too for lotion and to help with diaper rash. I had fungus on my toenails and cleared it up within a few weeks lubing up my tootsies and putting on socks to sleep in before bedtime. After I shower or bathe I use it as lotion all over my whole body and its the absolute best moisturizer I've ever found. Don't use too much or it will feel a little oily but give it half and hour or so and your skin will have absorbed most all of it. It should help great with belly stretch marks too. I've also read about women using it as a natural personal lubricant without side effects. Yep. ;-)

All over the web there are recipes using coconut oil from homemade soaps and shampoos and other personal care stuff to extra yummy recipes featuring coconut oil and cream in many delicious meals and drinks. The simplest and my fave it just an egg fried in coconut oil with toast spread with it too. It adds a nutty sweet flavor to any dish. Wow.

I want to check out a good source for the highest quality stuff in containers larger than 54 oz(what I've been getting), but so far I've been getting a good deal for Nutiva at Vitacost.
I hope this info helps! I'm sure it will if you give the lovely coconut a chance. Tree of Life? I think so, definitely. Good luck to you and your family and God Bless you all.
Yep, I'm crazy in the coconut for 'em! ;-)
