Re: Roundup is a chelator
Paraboy,
FOOD FOR THOUGHT:
Roundup = Glyphosate + some other TOXIC chemicals. These chemical attacks the insides of the plant causing enzyme damage & death. This crap is everywhere, in streams, rivers, fields, our foods, & water supplies. Even drifting in the winds near farms.
It is also included the defoliant spray used to defoliate cotton in the fall. They also spray their fields in the spring to get rid of weeds. I have established that when I get my asthma is in the fall when farmers are spraying their cotton fields to defoliate the plants. Circumstantial evidence, but another step toward a possible solution.
Also farmers around the country use Roundup >>extensively<< to kill weeds. Glysophate runs off into streams and soaks into groundwater. Wind carries it to adjacent crops. Glysophate is everywhere.
GET THIS ! BINGO !

"People like Viviana Peralta in San Jorge, Argentina. Peralta's baby daughter suffers acute asthma attacks every time a crop duster sprays herbicides and pesticides near her house, which sits in an agriculture-rich province 600 kilometers from Buenos Aires. A Le Monde story tells of Peralta's experiences, saying that she eventually made the connection between her daughter's asthma attacks and the chemical sprayings—a suspicion that a pediatrician would later confirm. Glyphosate was found present in Ailen's blood.
In San Jorge, cancer rates have spiked 30% in the past 10 years. Residents say that following a crop dusting, their lips turn blue and their tongues swell. Chickens die. Dogs and cats shed their hair. Bees disappear and birds become scarce.

In a paper titled “The Impact of Insecticides and Herbicides on the Biodiversity and Productivity of Aquatic Communities,” published in the journal Ecological Applications, Relyea examined how a pond’s entire community–25 species, including crustaceans, insects, snails, and tadpoles–responded to the addition of the manufacturers’ recommended doses of two insecticides–Sevin® (carbaryl) and malathion–and two herbicides–Roundup® (glyphosate) and 2,4-D.
Relyea found that Roundup® caused a 70 percent decline in amphibian biodiversity and an 86 percent decline in the total mass of tadpoles. Leopard frog tadpoles and gray tree frog tadpoles were completely eliminated and wood frog tadpoles and toad tadpoles were nearly eliminated. One species of frog, spring peepers, was unaffected.
“The most shocking insight coming out of this was that Roundup®, something designed to kill plants, was extremely lethal to amphibians,” said Relyea, who conducted the research at Pitt’s Pymatuning Laboratory of Ecology. “We added Roundup®, and the next day we looked in the tanks and there were dead tadpoles all over the bottom.”
PAY DIRT - We normally have Surficants in our lungs
---------------------
Previous research had found that the lethal ingredient in Roundup® was not the herbicide itself, glyphosate, but rather the surfactant, or detergent, that allows the herbicide to penetrate the waxy surfaces of plants. In Roundup®, that surfactant is a chemical called polyethoxylated tallowamine[POEA]. Other herbicides have less dangerous surfactants: For example, Relyea’s study found that 2,4-D had no effect on tadpoles.

More on the deadly surficant
==============================
Pathological examinations indicated that both Roundup (polyethoxylated tallowamine [POEA}), and to a lesser extent POEA, cause hemorrhaging and congestion of the lungs after intratracheal instillations.
Martinez and Brown (1991) conclude that POEA potentiates the pulmonary toxicity of glyphosate.

=========================================
In the U.S. alone, farmers and homeowners use an estimated 100 million
pounds of the Roundup herbicide a year. The problem is, weeds are becoming resistant to the chemical, so farmers are forced to apply more and more of it. Between 1994 and 2005, the use of glyphosate increased 1,500 percent.
Researchers tested four combinations of Roundup on cultured human cells, and found that one inert ingredient in particular, polyethoxylated tallowamine, or POEA, significantly boosted the toxic effects of the main ingredient, glyphosate.

=========================================
Both POEA and glyphosate caused lung hemorrhages and lung epithelial cell damage with po or intratracheal exposures. These results indicate POEA and preparations that contained POEA were more toxic than glyphosate.

It looks like POEA may be the main culprit in lung damage involved with Roundup.
I think that the human race is DOOMED by Monsanto & the chemical companies. Monsanto is immune from prosecutiuon. All of Congress is on Monsanto's payroll, and the FDA is under control of Monsanto.
