Also I assume that this type of treatment would only work for those who got this due to trauma.

It's pretty clear now that we don't all have the exact same condition, based on all of the people who get cured using treatments that don't help others. Also Lilo was diagnosed with herpes virus, which JSL didn't have. And all we need is two people to not have the same condition to know that not everyone necessarily has the same thing.
