Sounds like you have picked up some good truths. The problem I have seen many times is when we allow ourselves to get too weak and lowly feeling, whether from health problems or the burdens of life. It can be really hard to look at ourselves closely. It's almost like we can't take one more negative in life to deal with right now. However, at some point we must, if we want to find victories in Jesus.
Did it list some examples of what the evidences of grace were, that was written in the book? I think that would ever so helpful.
Here is the scripture you mentioned for all to read.
Ephesians 4:22-24
22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
It does seem to me that scripture tells us that it always starts with what we think that sets us down the right or the wrong road. Thanks for sharing. :)
