Diatomaceous Earth and colon polyps

I'm looking for some info about Diatomaceous Earth. I read something about where if you have polyps in the colon, this cuts the polyps off from the colon wall. Can anyone give me more info on how this stuff works? Is Diatomaceous Earth something that can be taken for a life? This would have to be taken for life because of the nature of these polyps in the colon. Only option for people with this condition is to have the entire colon removed to prevent cancer.
