Re: what dog parasite is that?

Hmmm... the shadows from the grass make it hard to tell if those are worms or just shadows, but I'd say it looks pretty normal to me for a raw food diet. And I've seen dog feces from raw foods that have that fur-looking thread-y quality. Does this look really different from what you usually saw from your dog, prior to the deworming? It's hard to diagnose it, since we don't know what was in the raw food you fed him, but this doesn't look abnormal to me.

Anyway, I believe DE works very well, but it must be fed internally over time for it to build up effectiveness. It's OK to just add it to your dog's feed. Just make sure it's food grade diatomaceous earth and not the pool-filter grade (which is cheaper but supposedly not safe due to how they process it). I would definitely add DE to your dog's food daily, along with occasional garlic and nutritional yeast. And then I would just make sure he had a plan for flea, tick, and heartworm preventatives. Maybe deworm herbally 4 times a year (at every season change). Also, if you're feeding raw food, make sure it's sourced from organic, humanely-raised meats (not beef from cows fed cows, for instance).

Why did you decide to deworm your dog this time? What worm symptoms did he have?
