Re: Congenital Hypothyroidism; completely lost.
A few places to go:
stopthethyroidmaddness.com A GREAT website to learn about all things thyroid.
Thyroidless.... a Yahoo group that is for those without a thyroid.
I have not had a thyroid since I was 9 years old, and I am 52 presently. You can live a normal life, but it requires doing things a bit dfferently that others.
A low carb lifestyle is the way to go for me.... when I eat bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, sugary things... weight gain is sudden and sure. when I stay away from those things, not only do I look great, I FEEL great too.
I take Armour Thyroid, which is a more natural type of thyroid medication, which gives T3 and T4, and all the other synergistic T's.
I think you may need a different doctor. Look into Dr. Blaylock and Dr. Brownstein.... they are
Iodine doctors, and some of what they say makes SO much sense for those with thyroid issues. And, on the stop the thyroid website, they list doctors that are " in the know".
Unfortunately, the weight that you carry will not magically disappear while taking thyroid medication... you have to get rid of it the saem way everyone else does... through diet and exercise.
