magnesium glycinate or magnesium citrate.

There are many forms of magnesium:
- - - Chelated minerals are widely regarded as the most assimilable
- - - Avoid magnesium carbonate, sulfate, gluconate, and oxide. They are poorly absorbed (and the cheapest and most common forms found in supplements)

So your magnesium malate is still on recommended lists, just not preferred by participants for whatever unknown reasons.
