Yes I have used benzos in the past. Xanax was the only thing that used to get me through the day when I was at my worst. I found that a combination of the amino acids l-arginine and l-lysine work just like a benzo but better(no sedation, mood elevation also). It is THE best thing that I found to counteract a raging high cortisol. I took 1,000mg of each literally first thing in the morning when I woke up which nipped the anxiety feeling in the bud before it even had a chance to start. When the anxiety was bad I found that I sometimes needed a top up of the same amount around noon. This worked brilliantly for me. Copper is usually the source of anxiety, my anxiety would skyrocket during a copper dump.

Took about two weeks and I have not had a high cortisol episode since. Heres a link:

There are only three or four studies on this partcular combination of amino acids but I can certainly attest to its effectiveness.
