the medications you took...

I had an ultrasound of my kidneys 5 years ago. Not until this year when I had another ultrasound, it showed I had kidney cortex thinning (probably stage 1). Since the kidney doctor suggested everything was fine since my creatine levels were in normal range, I did not look into it further. I did not research it to see if it or whatever caused it could have anything to do with dry lips. There is not much on the internet about it, but I read:

"1. The cortex is the part of the kidney that does the work of filtering the blood.

2. Cortical thinning means irreversible kidney damage has occurred, because you've lost tissue that won't come back no matter what changes you make to your lifestyle.

3. The test most often used to diagnose renal insufficiency is creatinine levels in urine. Unfortunately, although that test is cheap and easy enough to do for everyone during their regular exams, creatinine levels don't rise until kidney function has already dropped below about 70% of necessary. Since healthy people have almost twice the renal capacity they need, that means that over 60% of total kidney function is lost before the problem is noticed. But there are some new tests coming out that will do a better job at detecting the problem early."

Based on the information above, maybe I should be concerned about my kidney. With my crappy insurance, I did not see the best kidney doctor. Why didn't the doctor tell me that creatinine levels do not rise until kidney function has dropped below 70% (meaning it is still possible I have kidney damage)? Do you think kidney damage (even if mild) can cause chapped lips- since kidney damage can cause chapped lips.

I copied and pasted the information below. All these drugs can cause kidney damage. I know some of you have taken Antibiotics , accutane, and pain killers. I took a medication every day before I acquired EC. It could also be that these medications dry out intestinal lining. I do not know. Just wondering if kidney or liver damage could be a factor in EC.

"Kidney failure might cause symptoms that include cracked, chapped lips.
Accutane can cause both kidney and liver problems. Ibuprofen can damage your kidney and acetaminophen (Tylenol) can damage your liver. Heavy duty Antibiotics taken for 2 weeks has caused damage to kidney.

Not only does alcohol damage the liver.... A damaged liver will adversely hinders the livers ability to detoxify. When you have an excess of toxins in the body, the toxins need a place to go... and so they go through the urine... but also end up going out the pores..."

I wonder if there is a urine test to show which toxins are there???
