Sodium Borohydride as alkalizing and ORP reducing agent??

Adding a tiny amount of Sodium Borohydride to tap water alkalizes and dramatically reduces ORP (from +200 to -800). It seems fairly harmless. I've been using it for a few weeks. It does have a slightly bitter aftertaste. Any opinions on it's use? Any possible dangers? Thanks.
