Re: My Mirena experience

I went to my GYN to get the Mirena out on a Wednesday and she couldn’t find the strings. She tried using something to reach in there and grab it, but it hurt so much she stopped and told me to reschedule an appointment and we would use an ultrasound to help her find the IUD and remove it that way. Thankfully, she prescribed some pain meds for me to take before I went in the next time, but the next available time was another two and half weeks. Well, the weekend following my appointment my feet and hands started swelling, my belly looked like I was 6 months pregnant, and I had a bad headache. I called first thing Monday and told them what was happening and thankfully they worked me in and I had it taken out that afternoon using an ultrasound to find it and help her take it out (was thankful for the pain meds!). I gained 7 lbs in one week and am now 10 lbs heavier than normal and I’ve never had weight problems, ever. I’m so thankfully it’s finally out and hope to try a detox to get everything out of my system faster.

I should note that after my original post I went to my regular doctor and got blood work done to include a complete Arthritis panel. Everything came back negative except for my ANA, which could possibly be a sign of lupus, but he said it’s not a very reliable test. Lupus does not run in my family anywhere and I have always been healthy. In doing research online, I think I could possibly have drug-induced lupus due to the Mirena. Now I wasn’t diagnosed w/ that, but it would make sense how all of a sudden after having the Mirena 14 months I develop symptoms after always being healthy. I guess only time will tell if these symptoms go away now that the Mirena is out. I will keep you posted.
