Taking action...

Greetings and salutations to all my fellow sufferers. I'm not sure if any of you are aware that America has a doctor (the Surgeon General of the United States) that holds the title as "America's doctor." Regina M. Benjamin, MD, MBA is that person. Here's a website, bio, list of duties and contact info for Dr. Regina Benjamin:

Getting straight to the point here. I am going to organize my thoughts, and write Dr. Benjamin a letter regarding metabolic Body Odor conditions, and how this particular condition has adversely impacted my life. What do I hope to accomplish by contacting the SG?

It is my hope that Dr. Regina Benjamin can raise awareness "within the medical community" by lectures, and literature for examples. Also raise awareness to the general public via commericals and literature. She's America's top doctor. If anyone can reach the medical commmunity and public sector it's her.

The SG is responsible for disseminating a great deal of medical information to the medical community, which eventually trickles down to ordinary people. The bottom line is that recognition and education of our condition has to start "within the medical community." Contrary to popular belief, healthcare professionals don't know all there is to know about medicine! That's why they attend conferences and complete CEU's (Continuing Education Units).

Half of our battles would be won, if only the medical community and the general public were educated about metabolic Body Odor conditions, and the ramifications it has on sufferers lives. It would be extremely nice if there was a cure. For now, I would settle for mass dissemination of information regarding our condition.

In closing, if you can afford to, please first and foremost schedule a visit with your physician! Don't go it alone. Don't attempt to diagnose and treat yourself. I know there are a lot of folks on this forum that mean well, but please visit your physician. I can't emphasize this enough!
