Does sleep help anyone's RLS?

I have never been officially diagnosed with Restless Legs Syndrome, but I am confident that I have a mild case which started for me as a child. My earliest childhood memory of it is that I would try to stay up late to watch TV on the weekends, but I would complain to my mom about my legs "having chills". The chills/tickling sensation would cause me to wiggle and move my legs for relief (still does to this day and I am 36). Over the years I've noticed the "chill" is now more prominent in my left leg. Just like in childhood, these RLS symptoms begin in late evening when I'm relaxing on the couch, watching TV. It does not happen every night, but on nights when I am overly tired. Those many years ago, my mom would just tell me to just go to bed and get some sleep. Doing this same thing today still brings relief for my RLS. Being able to get some Z's to stop the symptoms is contrary to what I read and I feel I am the only one who's RLS does not interfere with sleep. Anyone else?
