2 years of allergies hell after Mirena

My daughter had the mirena for 2yrs before we figured out it was what was causing all her serious health issues. Anaphlaxis was something she dealt with frequently about a year and a half after having the mirena, she had over 30 or more trips to the emergency room, and saw an immunologist that finally made the mirena connection, but only after major suffering.

She repeatedly broke out in horrible hives, had extreme itching, face swelling, a bright red collar like rash around her neck, difficulty breathing and truly felt like she was dying when the allergic reactions would come on for no reason.

She became much more sensitive to chemicals, and the environment. Her immune system went crazy and was always under attack. Sometimes it happened when sleeping, when active, there was no time she was safe and it became more severe and she was having to use an epi pen daily at times. The neurological problems followed, neuropathy of her legs and feet and hands, excruciating pain, vision loss, anxiety, hair loss, migraines, u name it. Get it out, it only gets worse!!! I wish we had known sooner.

Since having mirena removed her anaphylaxis has STOPPED no more attacks, her body really was trying to tell her something was seriously wrong and that Mirena is poison. She still has neurological deficits from it and takes a lot of medication, but she has improved a lot, though some days are better than others.

She is 9 months post removal and is getting better every day. Hang in there ladies and don't give up. Doctors think they know it all but they are clueless when it comes to this. Some day the truth WILL come out, and we can all tell the b@stards "told u so!" -hailey56 Tweet
