my own two cents, Jones is right to ridicule the elite by comparing their interdimensional helpers as 'clockwork elves'.  these fools (the elites) sold their souls for a lie, and they are too greedy and power hungry to see it.  they might as well be worshiping elves, for in end, a yard gnome will be about as helpful to them as their precious clockwork elves...
