what a fascinating story. i believe you found someone to address the problem. the bleeding, in my mind, was the body's way of detoxifying. if the Iodine you were taking at the time - those small amounts - had anything to do with the bleeding it was all the toxins it was releasing without taking enough Iodine to denature the toxins as well.

you see, the chinese medicine is ancient. the halogen problem we have today is quite modern and based upon pharmacological chemistry. fluorine and bromine are killers. big pharma doesnt seem to mind that. in fact, the more dangerous the drug the more they can charge for it because the closer monitoring the person needs.
