Be wary of Coldwell's claims - here's why

Sorry, but I have to put Coldwell in the same category as I do Tullio Simoncini.  Lots of hype and outrageous claims, but where is the real proof?

The first red flag for me is that one would think that someone who has a 92% cure rate for cancer and has supposedly cured over 35,000 people of cancer would be much better known than Coldwell - but he is a relative nobody.

The second red flag is his self-serving claim that 90% of all cancer is caused by stress.  That is a purely bogus claim.  Certainly stress can lead to disease as well as retard recovery.  However, mankind has had plenty of stress throughout history while the incidence of cancer has been quite low until the advent of the industrial age and toxins.

Toxins (as well as radiation and smoking), in combination with poor cellular terrain is the number one cause of cancer, which is itself most often a protective cellular reaction to prolonged inflammation where the cells revert to a primitive form of respiration, refuse to die and replicate.

Single cancer cause proponents, such those who claim cancer is a fungus, is caused mostly by viruses, is caused by stress, etc., sell lots of books and in some cases treatments, but fall far short of proof as well as logic.  Mankind has had fungi, bacteria, viruses and stress throughout history.  What it has not had until the advent of tens of thousands of man made chemical toxins and unnatural compounds, and what it now has increasingly had in direct correlation with the increases in incidence of cancer, is toxins.

A third and most telling red flag is Coldwell's rediculous assertion that a combination of maple syrup and baking soda can act as a trojan horse for cancer cells - tricking the cancer cells into taking in the baking soda when they gobble up the maple syrup portion of the concoction.  Anyone who has even a basic understanding of the human digestive system knows that it is impossible for a baking soda/maple syrup compound to enter the blood stream intact.

Besides the fact that the molecules are too large to enter the blood stream, the human digestive system breaks the compound apart before any of it is absorbed into the blood stream.  Which is not to say that taking baking soda and maple syrup might have results in some instances, but it is sheer fantasy to say that they have results due to the scenario put forward by Coldwell.

And finally, there is this:  One Amazon reviewer for Coldwell's book decided to contact the six German clinics which Coldwell claims use his treatment methods.  Three responded.  Here is the review and the responses from the clinics:

Dishonest Book

I would not recommend this book because the material in it is very dishonest. People who are making decisions on how to fight their cancer deserve to get information that is truthful. Coldwell takes the attitude of "just trust me." He even has a trademark quote: "Its only my opinion--but I might right!" (page 33).

This book is packed full of misleading information, but I picked two things that stand out:

Coldwell's headline marketing boast is he has cured 35,000 people from cancer at a 92.3% success rate. We know this is false by using simple arithmetic. How many people does he cure every day? 20? Is he a 500-year old elf? And if his boast were true, he should be the doctor of the century and have his picture on the cover of every major publication. I would dare anyone to find any information about Coldwell or his self-reported success that does not come from his own advertising.

Coldwell also claims his curing rate is legendary in Europe and he is known as the number one leading alternative doctor in the continent. He lists 6 German clinics that he recommends cancer patients go to because they use the techniques that he advocates. I decided to contact these German clinics and find out if they know Coldwell and if they use his techniques. These are supposedly the guys that are on his side. Three of them were kind enough to reply:

Dear Dr. Wilson

Working in the field of alternative medicine for more than 15 years. I have not heard anything about a Dr. Coldwell as a holistic and alternative doctor in Europe. Also there is nothing known and available about legendary curing rates after treatments of patients in Europe.

If doctor Coldwell was that famous in Europe I would know him, because I know most of the alternative specialists, some of them even personally from different meetings.

Also the name Leonard Coldwell does not sound German at all.

I believe it is very important to help cancer patients to find the right path which includes alternative treatments as well as conventional treatments. The aim should be to guide the patient to the best possible results what ever method may be helpful.

General promises of curing rates higher than 90 % in cancer are not helpful at all. They may be understood as false promises offering to treatments without much benefit there is the risk of loosing important time.

What is your intention? Are you interested in treatments available in Germany or are you just generally interested in medicine and alternative medicine?

I hope I could help you.

If you have more questions please let me know.

With best regards

Dr. med. Alexander Herzog

Dear J. Wilson,
Many thanks for your e-mail. I can give you no closer information about Dr. Coldwell. To me is only known that he has written the named book. Maybe you can get in contact yourselves with Dr. Coldwell.
Kind regards
Dr. med. AXEL WEBER

Dear Mr. Wilson,

thank you for your email. We don' know anything about Dr. Coldwell. We have never worked with him and we didn't ever heard about a cancer therapy in related to him. 93% succes rate seems be exaggerated. If someone would achieve this succes rate, he would be very famous. As I said, we have never heard about him.

Yours sincerely
