I can't even describe the smell but it doesn't smell pleasant.
There's also this greasy feel to it as well.

Wal-Mart has the Equate brand exfoliater that's very cheap, doesn't leave a greasy feeling, and reduces/eliminates the odor for a bit. It's usually on the very bottom shelf of the facial products aisle.

You can try others but most of the more expensive ones seem to leave a greasy feeling.
