>> i take 5000 as my d levels are at 30 ,,,thanks so much grizz <<
My favorite doctors, Dr. Kruze & Dr. Wm Davis both recommend your vitamin D3 blood levels to be 60 to 80 for optimal health. Mrs Grizz & I take 10,000 IU Daily to get our blood levels up near 70ng/ml. It takes 3 months of taking a higher level of D3 to get the body reserves filled to the new level, then take the blood test. You can get an at-home blood test kit for $65 at the vitamion D3 Council: http://www.vitamindcouncil.org/about-vitamin-d/vitamin-d-deficiency/am-i-vita...
So the rule of thumb says that each 1,000 IU change in your Vitamin D3, there will be a change on 10ng/ml in your blood test. Blood Level of 30 needs to be raised by 50 to get your blood level to 80ng/ml. This will take an additional 5,000 IU Daily. So, according to the rule, 10,000 IU should get you to 80ng/ml in your blood test. If you spend a lot of time in the sun during summer you should reduce your Vitamin D3 dosage accordingly.
