Bad Period Update
Hello everyone,
I want to keep you posted on what's going on with me. Here is the link to my original message if you need it...

I got out of the hospital this past Tuesday (it's Friday now) with my bleeding nearly stopped. It started up again Wednesday night, and I was scared because it was just like when the really bad bleeding started, and it bled very heavily for 2 hours.
This time I was more prepared, and I used interventions and it lightened up. The faucet's still on, but probably at 20% of the flow. I won't be running a marathon, but my body seems to be handling the anemia decently...I'm fortunate in that I'm able to rest as much as I need to.
After I got home I reduced my
Iodine to 5 drops of
Lugol's 2% (12.5 mg) on Tuesday and Wednesday, then fearing that it contributed to the bleeding restarting I stopped it yesterday and have not taken any today. But I will start it back up soon at the dose of 5 drops, maybe tonight even, but I haven't decided yet.
Here is my current regimen:
- Castor oil heat pack (3 days on, 4 days off)
- 1 T Bragg's cider vinegar in a glass of water 3 times/day
- 1/4 t cayenne pepper in water 3 times/day
- 2 T Sonne's cod liver oil 3 times/day (yielding 72,000 IBU/day, I plan to keep this dosage for 15 days then cut back to 1 T...I believe I'm doing the right thing here because it actually tastes quite good to me...yes, I know, ~very weird~)
- 65 mg iron (ferrochel) with B complex
- magnesium
- 200 mg selenium
- 2 capsules milk thistle
- 2,000 mg Vitamin C
- 1/8 t borax in a glass of water
- 1/4 t celtic salt in water at least 2 times/day
- blackstrap molasses, at least 1 T/day
- multivitamin
I haven't taken the magnesium or selenium on non-iodine days.
I've been eating pastured meat, organic greens, organic strawberries, and liverwurst, and drinking some beet kvass.
Maybe, just maybe, one of these things helped to curb the bleeding, ha ha!
The bleeding appears to be due to fibroids. I have elevated TSH but the hospital doctor said my T3 and T4 are good so they can't treat it, but it would indicate "sub-clinical" hypothyroidism. I suppose they like to wait until it becomes "clinical." Oh well, at least that gives me the cue to work on it through other means.
I am seeing a mainstream doctor and an acupuncturist on Monday. I am really looking forward to the acupuncture, but I can't say as much for the mainstream doctor.
The bottom line is I am eager to return to my 50 mg
Iodine as soon as I feel right about it, and I just don't yet. And right now that's about all I have to go on.
I'll keep you posted...
