Re: more on the remodeling...

...just because it's really cool.

We love craigslist, flea markets and habitat for humanity's shop. Through them we have gotten, over the last few years:

separate stainless fridge and freezer, 26 cu ft each~ $300.

stainless gas range top~ $75

Double stainless convection oven~ $800

extra deep stainless sink~ $15.

stainless toaster oven- $25

Stainless fridge with water and ice in door, flash freezer~ free. That's my new cream fridge:)

So, let's see, we are now at $1215.

CABINETS. When we were looking for a new cream fridge, we went to an absolutely gorgeous property right on the Truckee River. The contractor was doing a remodel for the owner and the owner was re-selling. The fridge was not suitable.... but... they were completely remodeling the kitchen. There were beautiful solid oak cabinets taken out... I asked the contractor what they were going to do with them, he said, "oh, you can have them if you want them."

They have sliding shelves, lazy susans, and roll-tops. They are BEAUTIFUL, I LOVE the light oak color. We will MAKE THEM FIT.

I feel SO blessed and so lucky! We would NOT be able to afford a remodel if we actually had to pay a reasonable price for these things.

It is truly amazing what people throw out, it's also amazing what they just get tired of.
