Why are iodine dangers being ignored?
There was even at least one post on the dangers of excess iodine on the fetus on the iodine board:

Yet the iodine supporters keep ignoring these reported dangers when people ask about iodine during pregnancy. For example, in responses to the warning in this thread the response were "Iodine has been shown to raise the IQ significantly of the baby, if taken during pregnancy" and "and Iodine makes the progesterone work better." There seems to be no real concern over the mother taking too much iodine harming the fetus. In fact, I looked at a number of other posts on the iodine forum related to iodine and pregnancy. Again, I did not see any warnings about iodine dosing from the iodophiles there. Why don't they care about safety and people's health? Seems like all they are interested in is pushing this pharmaceutical drug. Medicating instead of educating!!!
I ran across this report, which also adds to the evidence that the dangers of excess iodine are being ignored:

"Babies and children need iodine to form thyroid hormones, which are important for growth and health. If infants and children do not have enough iodine in their bodies, their thyroid glands will not produce enough thyroid hormone and they will not grow normally. If they have too much iodine in their bodies, they may develop an enlarged thyroid gland (goiter), which may not produce enough thyroid hormone for normal growth. We also need just the right amount of iodine from our mothers before we are born. Too much iodine from the mother can cause a baby’s thyroid gland to be so large that it makes breathing difficult or impossible."
